‘Eventful’ is probably also a fitting description of the first few months in Düsseldorf. In February, Düsseldorf’s famous Kunstakademie (Art Academy) will again let you take a look behind the scenes – quite literally, as it were – to meet the “stars” of tomorrow. With the Carnival season, musical highlights and extraordinary sports events ahead of us, there’s plenty to be excited about in 2012. We look forward to your visit.

European city destinations, capital cities in particular, are increasingly more popular during the time before Christmas and the New Year, when the cities are turned into holiday wonderlands. The Slovenian capital city of Ljubljana is preparing for the magical ambience that will begin symbolically on 3 December with the event “People, Let’s Turn on the Light”, culminating on 31 December with New Year`s Eve open-air celebrations in the squares in the city centre.
Each year in December, Ljubljana`s Festive Fair becomes the centre of the city`s social life. Many citizens of Ljubljana and visitors from other parts of Slovenia and abroad are what makes Ljubljana so very special. The smiling faces, handshakes and expression of best wishes, the aroma of mulled wine and roasted almonds, the nostalgic organ-grinders on the streets, the sparkles of expectation in the children`s eyes, etc. – all this is December in Ljubljana.

The displays focus on the most remote, inaccessible, small and medium-sized islands of the Aegean archipelago, namely Kastellorizo, Symi, Halki, Tilos and Nisyros. They include some of the farthest removed and least known regions of Greece in which people have lived and worked, and whose works and culture will be highlighted in separate exhibitions.
