  Text: It is one of the greatest ruined cities in the western world. A Greek city was first built about 1000 BC as a centre for the worshi p of Cybeles, the Anatolian Mother Goddes. The city we know was founded in the 4th century BC by Alexander the Great’ succesor, Lynasichus. Under the Romans it became the chief port in the Aegean.
