Text: El complejo es el ejemplo más temprano de un nuevo estilo sirio de aquella época y muestra la típica arquitectura mameluca. El diseño de la entrada es de mampostería polícroma entrelazada en ablaq (combinación alternativa de piedra roja y blanca o negra) mientras que el cuadro de la parte baja y el minarete reflejan el diseño sirio.
The complex is the earliest example of a new Syrian style of those times, and displays typical Mameluke architecture. The entrance design is of interlaced polychrome masonry ablaq (alternating use of red and white or black and white stone), while the square bottom and middle stories of the minaret reflect the Syrian design.

Text: Las ventanas exteriores tienen columnas y reminiscencias del estilo gótico, con el que Qalaun seguramente estaba familiarizado por las iglesias de los Cruzados.
The exterior windows are columned and reminiscent of Gothic style, which Qalaun was certainly familiar with from the Crusader's churches.

Text: La arquitectura del portal a veces se ha comparado a la de la Madrasa Gok de Anatolia por los medallones que flanquean la bóveda de estalactitas, las bandas esculpidas que lo enmarcan y los paneles llenos de dibujos geométricos.
The architecture of the portal has sometimes been compared to the Gok madrasa in Anatolia because of the medallions flanking the stalactite vault, the carved bands framing it and the panels filled with geometric patterns.

Text: A cada lado del sahn (patio) hay pabellones con unos pilares en arco conocidos como iwan, que se abren hacia el patio. Cada uno de ellos representa una escuela del Islam Sunní (Shafii, Maliki, Hanafi y Hanbali).
On each side of the sahn (courtyartd) are recesses with arched supports known as iwans, which open upon the courtyard. Each of the four iwans represents one school of Sunni Islam (Shafii, Maliki, Hanafi and Hanbali).

Text: El Iwan de la qibla es la mayor sala abovedada del mundo musulmán medieval. El uso de revestimiento de mármol policromado es una de las principales características de la decoración mameluca. El estilo de las columnas que flanquean la decoración apuntan a que pudieron ser trofeos de los edificios de los Cruzados en Palestina.
Qibla Iwan is this the largest vaulted hall of the medieval Muslim world. The use of polychrome marble paneling is one of the most characteristic features of Mamluk decoration. The style of the columns that flank the decorations indicates that they may have been trophies from Crusader buildings in Palestine.

Text: En Midan Qala se encuentran las Mezquitas Sultán Hassan y Ar-Rifai, esta última menos espectacular, y que alberga las tumbas de la familia real egipcia y el último Sha de Irán.
In Midan Qala are Sultan Hassan Mosque and Ar-Rifai Mosque. The last one is less spectacular and it houses the tombs of the egyptian royal family and the tomb of the last Sha of Iran.

Text: La Madrasa de al-Salih Najm al-Din Ayyub ocupa parte del lugar donde en otro tiempo se erigía el Gran Palacio Fatimí y forma parte del famoso Bazar de Khan el Khalili. Tiene forma rectangular acabando en forma de octágono y coronado por un tejado acanalado angular apoyado en estalactitas.
The Madrasa of al-Salih Najm al-Din Ayyub occupies part of the site where the Great Fatimid Palace once stood within the heart of the Fatimid city, as does part of the famous Khan el-Khalili bazar. Its minaret consists of a rectangular shaft, receding in the shape of an octagon, and topped by a ribbed, angular roof resting on stalactites.
