Text: En el medio de la composición tripartita de la fachada domina un sobresaliente portal decorado con un largo nicho en forma de quilla esculpido en canales que irradian desde un medallón central como un motivo de la salida del sol o una concha.
The middle of the tripartite composition in the facade is dominated by a protruding portal decorated with a large keel arch niche carved with fluting radiating from a central medallion, like a sunrise or shell motif.

Text: El medallón tiene el nombre de Mahoma repetido en un dibujo circular entrelazado formando un círculo con el nombre de Ali en el centro, todo en escritura cúfica y grabado en la piedra, terminando en una banda circular con rollos entrelazados.
The medallion has the name of Muhammad repeated in a circular interlacing pattern forming a circle, with the name Ali at the center, all in Kufic and pierced right through the stone. This is all surrounded by a circle of arabesque and of pierced Kufic, with a final circular band decorated with interlacing scrolls.

Text: El complejo, ubicado en la esquina de las calles Nahhasin y Muski, domina el cercano bazar de las especias. Construido en 1425, con sus almenas de flor de lis y su cúpula de piedra esculpida en forma de pimentero, es típico de la arquitectura mameluca tardía. Comprende una mezquita-madrasa, un sabil-kuttab (fuente pública y escuela) y un mausoleo anexo.
The complex, located on the corner of Nahhasin and Muski streets, dominates the nearby spice bazaar. Built in 1425, with its fleur-de-lis crenellation and carved-stone, pepperpot dome, is typical of later Mameluke architecture. It consists of the mosque with a sabil-kuttab (public drinking fountain and school).

Text: La mezquita, universidad y centro cultural de Al Azhar atrae universitarios y visitantes asiduos de todo el mundo. Hay muchos ejemplos históricos del papel de esta universidad en revoluciones políticas como la revolución de marzo de 1800 contra los franceses, la de mayo de 1805 o el nacimiento en 1919 del movimiento por la independencia.
Al-Azhar mosque, university and cultural center attracts scholars and frequenters from all over the globe. There were many historical examples of the role if this university in political revolutions, like the revolution of March 1800 against the French, the May revolution in 1805 or the birth of the independence movement in 1919.

Text: Ubicada en la plaza Al Hussein, la Mezquita de Al Azhar (la más floreciente), establecida en el 972 en un estilo de pórtico poco después de la fundación del propio Cairo, fue construida por mandato del Califa Muezz Li-Din Allah.
Located in El Hussein Square, the Al-Azhar Mosque (the most blooming), established in 972 in a porticoed style shortly after the founding of Cairo itself. It was built on the orders of Caliph Muezz Li-Din Allah.
